To update you on the LOVEPRINTS here is my newest design for my hair stylist MYKIL!!!!!!!!!!!!! First I incorporated two fingerprints..2 month old Rylee and 9 year old Caid...along with two white sapphires. Mykil wanted this elongated contemporary look........

His MOM.....Theresa owns Vanaseys at Conover Square....
We are imprinting his fingerprint onto PMC silver...from there I take it back to my studio and create a one of a kind pendant for his mom...of course with his ruby birthstone and this time his name embedded onto the front design...See the flower going up the left hand side...and the middle of the flower is a RUBY...and among the garden at the bottom is his name............the backside of course has his name and birthday!

What a way to start the month of May...Our eldest son Joshua graduated from the University of Alaska Juneau with a degree in Marine Biology....It was so incredible to see his world of mountains, climbing, hiking, kayaking, nature at it's finest.....he has great friends and has made a great life for himself....oh gosh....am I gushing or what...needless to say....who knows where he will end up after he finishes his Masters!!!
and wimpy me actually went kayaking...the water was all of 39 degrees!!!!!!!!! Wahoo

I am so inspired and have countless drawings for new jewelry sculptures!

Jordan & Jewelry

Another trip to Sioux Falls -this time I brought along one of my glass cabinets from Dragonfly Gallery for Laurel to showcase my jewelry in the new Art Gallery portion of Food and Fermentations! That evening we had dinner and time to "catch up" with Pat & Craig Lloyd

Sunday was just amazing....Jordan had his CELLO recital with Dr Karren Melik-Stepanov at Augustana. He has been working on the Haydn piece all year. We were in tears....what an amazing day and Doug and Laurel were able to share it with us!

The Augustana Orchestra had their concert Monday evening and we headed home Tuesday...a long drive...but oh so worth it!

Creating Love Prints

Here I am at Vanaseys with Theresa's son Zed. We are making a Love Print...a beautiful pendant using his little fingerprint. I inscribed his name and added his Ruby birthstone!

Early March 2008

I had a fantastic time in Sioux Falls! Laurel Lather, owner of Food and Fermentations hosted a private jewelry trunk show for me....complete with a car trunk for the jewelry!

I made the 9 hour drive from Illinois on Friday March 14 and arrived with temps in the 40's and SUNSHINE!!!

Son Jordan is attending Augustana College and he was working at Laurel's that evening! I was pleased to meet his great friend Izzy...who is gorgeous, funny and SMART!

Izzy made me her famous Godiva Fondue with raspberries...this after a sumptous meal of a gorgeous AHI TUNA cake with a creme fraiche wasabi topping courtesy of Laurel! Heaven!!!

Saturday I set up for the Jewelry Trunk Show (notice the pic above with the car TRUNK!)

I met Tom Bennett's (South Dakota Symphony) wife Julia for the first time. When I lived in Sioux Falls 3 years ago I was on the South Dakota Symphony League Board! Some of Laurel's great friends/customers stopped by too! What Fun! It was delightful meeting Lynette Kelley and her husband.... who not only bought the "Buttercream Pearls" she is wearing...but also brought in pearls from her recent trip to Las Vegas. I am going to incorporate them into a custom creation!

MMMM this was for dinner Saturday Night....Chicken Mole....

Laurel...you have presentation down to an art form!...and of course the flavor was outstanding!

Laurel and I got to have our Girlie time....fun in the hot tub...shopping at 8th & Railroad
...and lunch at Sanaa's!

On the way home I stopped in Minnesota and had an early Easter Dinner with Mom at Torey's, shopping, lunch at Costa's and a meeting with one of my artist friends, Russ Docken...check out his incredible artwork!

End of February 2008

Wow...this has been a super busy month. I ended the month of February by participating in Art for Art's Sake. This event was held in Dixon IL at the Hospital's Commerce Towers to benefit the Next Picture Show...a gorgeous non-profit gallery. 40 artists set up at noon, creating one of a kind works of art. I brought my kiln, silver and tools. It is NOT EASY working under such pressure, but by 6pm when the doors opened to the pubic, I had finished a beautiful .999 fine silver pendant and inscribed the back with the name of the event and date. A silent auction started at 6 pm until 8 pm...the guests filed through listening to the live music, sipping wine, munching on tray passed gourmet hor d'oeurves and flowering us with many questions about our work! At 8 pm the bids were collected...however those were NOT the winning bids...the highest bid on each item was then given to an auctioneer, who took the place of the band on the stage and then the excitement built! NOW the bids went higher and higher and oh what fun we had.....I had the opportunity to have the winning bid on a gorgeous jewelry box created by Rosalie Koldan who was there with partner/artist Shirley Guay!

and $650 for my pendant!
This is at the finishing stage...fresh from a 1650 degree kiln.
It was named FEMALE GARDEN...notice the slender femail silhouette...the floral background on the silver and the dimensional fines woven on top the the pendant!
