Art on the Hill

Ann Haas! What a labor of Love....A gorgeous charity auction gala held at the PINEHILL B&B on Sunday September 7th. I donated a PMC abstract pendant with black and white freshwater pearls and was in the company of about 40 fine artists! WOW....first of all the location was enchanting....Chris...the place is magical...the artwork was displayed throughout the first floor and the dining room held an array of delicacies...by none other than Ann and her husband...do you think in your spare time you could open a restaurant???? Just kidding Ann...I do NOT know where you find the time....the audience enjoyed wine and fine hors d'oeuvres under a huge white canopy while bidding on these items to benefit the ROCK RIVER CENTER.

I had the joy of sitting with a favorite artist of mine...Jan Harvey and husband Ron. Jan's artwork sold really well in my gallery...Dragonfly Gallery...especially her gorgeous palette knife work! Check it out! www.janharveyart.com.
Also...since I had the pleasure of visiting with Bronze Sculptor Jeff Adams and gorgeous wife Kathy...here is his website too....he just finished pouring the life size bronze of Olympic Gold Medal Winner Shawn Johnson!!!!

The Rock River Center
is a non profit agency that is the designated focal point by the State of IL to provide services for individuals 60 + years throughout Ogle County. The $ raised from this event will be used toward the new facilities and services for seniors.

Don't forget to check my website for updates on Exhibitions and Projects..www.dragonflystudios.net

Grand Detour Art Festival - Sunday - Sept 7

Above...Betty Adams is informing visitors of ART ON THE HILL...a gala charity auction at Pine Hill B&B today benefiting Rock River Center....I donated a PMC pendant and will drop by later today.

What a gorgeous day...70 degrees and a beautiful breeze and of course...one of the best shows around....I rank it up there with the Stockholm Art Festival I used to do every July....What an opportunity to not only see the finest art around...but visit with our many "artist friends"
Kim and Bob Logsdon...Bob and Colleen are heading West and I cannot wait to see the fabulous photographic artwork he returns with...by the way....
I spoke to Colleen Logsdon and she wants to take a PMC Silver Class from me...anyone interested???? I am going to set up something with Bonnie Kime at the Next Picture Show for either October of November
...Let me know if there is an interest OKAY???

Shirley Guay & Rosalie Koldan This was Shirley Guay's first time at the Grand Detour Art Festival and she won BEST OF SHOW! Congrats!!!!!
Bonnie Kime from the Next Picture Show was hard at work with the Youth Exhibitions. and Chuck Phillips from Sauk Valley Bank...

the four pieces I have exhibited

I am Woman Exhibit

Women's Art Exhibition, "I am Woman," show opens on Aug. 15, 2008 woman1.jpgAn exhibit featuring women artists will open Aug. 15 at The Next Picture Show, 113 W. First St. The "I Am Woman" show, which runs through Sept. 16, will include artwork depicting women or objects related to women. "When we put our calendar together each year, we try to work in some new concepts. With this show, we wanted to feature work with themes ranging from jobs and childbearing to humor and friendships and much more," said Bonnie Kime, executive director of the gallery. "The art runs the spectrum from paintings in all mediums, photography, textiles/fiber, printmaking, graphic illustration, drawing and mixed media."
The show is open to the public with an artists' reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Aug. 15. The public is invited to stop by and meet the artists. Pat Schaible, owner of Something Special at 123 W. First St., is the sponsor.
Artist Raphael Iaccarino will judge the show. He is an internationally known artist whose vivid watercolors are inspired by the Costa Rican rain forests and jungles. Iaccarino, whose work is exhibited in public and
private collections worldwide, has spent years observing the primary subject of his inspiring work.
